La Rambla

An old popular tradition says that whoever drinks water from the Canaletes fountain must return, at least once, to visit Barcelona. Whether it is true or not, it is unquestionable that the mecca of the city for both the people of Barcelona and visitors alike is La Rambla. Without realising it, the walker walks down La Rambla over and over again, sometimes simply crossing from one side to the other, other times walking more slowly, or rambleja, strolling… This book suggests rediscovering La Rambla, from both the historical point of view and that of its urban and social singularity, by means of a profuse selection of historic and current images, very often of unknown interiors or difficult to reach spots, of the avenue par excellence of Barcelona.
