Gaudí, Pagès i l’Obrera

As a young architect, Antoni Gaudí designed his first project in Mataró thanks to the progressive La Obrera Mataronense Cooperative Society and its director, Salvador Pagès.

He first created the poster for the new factory, followed by the plans for the residential area and the overall layout of this urban industrial colony, including the director’s house, the workers’ neighborhood, the factory, a leisure casino, and other facilities.

The original plans and drawings of the entire complex reveal the scope of this innovative industrial project while highlighting the creative foundations of Gaudí’s work.

The book is written by Núria Poch, director of the Mataró Art Museum Consortium and Nau Gaudí; architect Ignasi Riera; and historians Maria Rodríguez and Jordi Pomés.

This book offers valuable insight into the industrial city of Mataró, the cooperative movement, and Gaudí’s early career, already marked by exceptional brilliance.
